Fundamentalist Buddhists live a life of peace and meditation. Fundamentalist Catholics become monks and devote their lives to study and poverty. Fundamentalist Christians become missionaries and spend their lives feeding the poor and helping the helpless.
Fundamentalist Muslims become terrorists.
Does anyone else find that to be a bit strange from a religion that describes itself as ‘the Religion of Peace’?
I just mention this because I was reading this interesting article about how Muslims reacted to an event in Greece:
“ATHENS (Reuters) – Greek riot police fired tear gas to disperse hundreds of Muslims who pelted them with sticks and stones outside parliament on Friday during protests over what they said was the destruction of a Koran by a Greek policeman.
The Muslim Union of Greece says that during police checks at a Syrian-owned coffee shop, an officer took a customer’s Koran, tore it up, threw it on the floor and stomped on it. Police have launched an investigation.
About 1,500 Muslims marched through Athens to protest against the incident, chanting “Allah is great”, carrying banners reading “Hands off immigrants” and holding up copies of Islam’s holy book.”
And these aren’t even FUNDI’S! If you tore up a Bible, most Christians would shake their head and pray for you. The average Muslim in Greece decides to riot. Great. Let’s hear it for ‘the Religion of Peace’!
No, I have no solution. Just thought I’d vent a bit. This stuff just drives me nuts.
