“The same way I explain how their suicide rate is far in excess of ours. Japan U.S.”
Ooops, keep forgetting that the “is not equal to” symbol gets stripped out of comments.
Please read:
“The same way I explain how their suicide rate is far in excess of ours. Japan is not the U.S.
….and I’m feeding the fucking trolls again.
FUCK.
“Why don’t you start your own webcomic Trucker Tom and show us how it’s done.”
Okay I did.

Look, no copy/paste! Although I did take some inspiration from this site…
Sock Puppet “Tom”,
Yep, real impressive 403 Forbidden error ya got there.
Don’t quit your day job, mmmkay?
“England has done basically the opposite over the last decades, and has seen their violent crime rates, including those involving firearms, go up.”
Wrong, Griz. Since 2006 England has seen a steady decline in violent crime rates, as much as 4.6% per quarter. While I cannot argue that there was a increase from ‘00-’06, it has begun to fall once again, and quite rapidly to boot, since then. Like most of your information, it is outdated.
Likewise, the myth that Japan has a much higher suicide rate isn’t quite a severe as you say. A world census take in ‘08 puts Japan at 20 suicides per 100,000 and America at around 15. HOWEVER, America has almost triple the amount of suicide ATTEMPTS. This is largely a cultural phenomenon for many Americans crave attention, while Japan stresses personal honor and the constant need to atone for any misdoing.
This doesn’t change the fact that you’re using the old bait and switch. Instead of addressing my point, which is that Japan has almost no gun violence, and you instead talk a completely unrelated topic. Try again, Griz.
“All you can do is make it harder for normal, law abiding citizens to own guns. Nutjobs, irresponsible folks, and criminals will be able to easily get guns no matter what. England, an ISLAND for chrissakes, with a long history of compliance with oppressive rules can’t control firearms.”
Japan, however, can. Not only that, but Japan is larger than England. ENGLAND = 244,820 SQ KM JAPAN = 374,744 SQ KM
So not only is it possible, but it’s not even all that hard.
“I CAN be trusted with firearms, I’ve had open access to them for more than 30 years and I’ve committed no crimes with them, and prevented at least one felony.”
Show me the police report that says you stopped a felony. If there is none, then you are a vigilante, and vigillanteism is illegal. I’m not here to debate the moral and societal implications of vigillanteism with you, I’m merely saying that by law if there was no police report than you are either a criminal yourself, or a liar.
But in all honesty I believe you cannot be trusted with a firearm. You have already shown by your own admission that you are willing to threaten another person’s life with it, something that no member of society that does not suffer from some sort of mental illness should be able to brag about. And your own wording suggests that it wasn’t even in self defense; you claim to have stopped a felony, not defended yourself which is a whole ‘nother can of worms in an of itself.
Furthermore you show quite a few signs of Antisocial Personality Disorder, and while I have neither spoken to you in person nor do I have a doctorate is psychology, I can say that I am firm in my belief. Your overaggressive behavior, dehumanization of your opponents, constantly lying, and complete lack of remorse for others and even yourself are all indicative that you have an illness.
Seek help, Griz. If not for yourself then for those around you.
Trucker Tom did post a valid link, she just forgot that waffleimages blocks links from any site except Something Awful. You have to copy and paste the link to get it to work.
““The same way I explain how their suicide rate is far in excess of ours. Japan is not the U.S.”
Japan and the US are both highly-developed first world countries with very powerful industrial centers, along with highly populous urban areas sprinkled amidst largely empty spaces taken up by agricultural lands. We also have similar forms of government; Japan has a Judicial, Legislative, and Executive Branch that works almost exactly like ours. Our youth cultures are becoming more and more alike as well with, with both countries emulating the other in many regards. Both Japan and America are becoming much more liberal as time goes on as well.
So while we are not the same, Griz, the two countries are INCREDIBLY similar and those similarities cannot be denied. Not only would many people agree that comparing the two countries is justified, we’ve been doing it for decades anyway, but you’d be hard pressed to find a better country to compare the United States too anyway. Canada and Britain, perhaps, but most people would only say that because they speak English.
My point is valid and still stands.
If a man tried to rob me at knifepoint and I pulled out a gun (where it is legal for me to conceal carry), that would be a legal way to stop a felony without being a vigillante.
When my teacher was last in Japan, a man chased her for blocks to return her dropped wallet. It was out of politeness. Japan’s culture and demographics is signifigantly different than ours and I think the comparison on crime rates is not neccecarily a good comparison.
Now, China’s rate of drug dependancy is far lower due to some incredibly harsh drug laws (makes 3 strikes look tame). I still would not advocate taking up their drug policy as a model.
TruckerTom, putting up one comic strip that looks like it was drawn by a sixth grader on MS paint isn’t “how it’s done”. Hell, that thing looks so generic you just as likely did copy it from some obscure crappy webcomic you read and posted it. Making a webcomic involves having a site with more than one comic. Put a comments section there even. Make a character with spiky red hair, a parody of happa, or some artistic relavance to the site to show us it’s your horrible art. I’ve posted single comics I drew onto the web, but it’s hardly a webcomic.
So, Happa, when will you’re next comic come forward?
Fixed it for you bitches.

I did come across this and thought it was too funny:
http://www.superpoop.com/020408/working-on-my-webcomic.jpg
I can’t claim any credit for it, I just couldn’t resist.
TruckerTom, who is the yellow-haired person supposed to represent?
In any case, all you were able to show was that a bad comic can be made without copy/paste, not that good comics can’t be made with copy/paste.
SAW,
“Wrong, Griz. Since 2006 England has seen a steady decline in violent crime rates, as much as 4.6% per quarter. While I cannot argue that there was a increase from ‘00-’06, it has begun to fall once again, and quite rapidly to boot, since then. Like most of your information, it is outdated.”
Really, you’re too easy:
http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/newstopics/politics/lawandorder/4312170/Metropolitan-Police-amongst-18-forces-to-have-under-reported-violent-crime-for-10-years.html
“Metropolitan Police amongst 18 forces to have ‘under-reported violent crime for 10 years’”
That’s from January 2009, fuck’tard.
“Likewise, the myth that Japan has a much higher suicide rate isn’t quite a severe as you say.”
According to the latest statistics I could find from the WHO, the suicide rates in Japan were 36.5 men and 14.1 women per 100,000. Rates in the U.S. were 17.6 and 4.1 respectively.
Over twice as many counts as “far in excess”, so, again, your rebuttal is bullshit, as usual.
Here is where I found my information: http://www.who.int/mental_health/prevention/suicide/suiciderates/en/ Where’s your fucking cite, troll?
“This doesn’t change the fact that you’re using the old bait and switch.”
You’re right. I can point to places like Florida, where laws were changed to allow run-of-the-mill common citizens to carry a pistol concealed, and where crime rates dropped. I can point to places like Britain, where increasing gun laws have arguably increased crime rates and at the very least haven’t solved the problems of violent crime.
You point to Japan, which hasn’t allowed common citizenry to carry guns for at least the last 70 years. And then you accuse me of “the old bait and switch”? Fuck you, troll.
Shall I bring up Switzerland, where they provide their citizens with REAL assault rifles to keep in their homes?
“But in all honesty I believe you cannot be trusted with a firearm.”
Honestly, claims the troll. You’ll have to pardon me if I don’t believe you, you being a proven liar, sock puppeteer, and all-around pig-fucking asshole.
“Show me the police report that says you stopped a felony.”
Show me the DNA test that proves you’re a human being, not a bridge-skulking piece-of-shit troll.
“If there is none, then you are a vigilante, and vigillanteism is illegal.”
My, you are a dumb fuck. There is not a state in the union where using deadly force in protecting yourself or innocent bystanders from someone committing a violent felony is illegal.
“I’m not here to debate… …you are either a criminal yourself, or a liar.”
I’m not here to debate whether or not you’re just a worthless piece-of-shit trolling engaging in a troll’s typical ridiculous demands for spurious documentation in the feeble attempt to annoy me… Because you are.
“You have already shown by your own admission that you are willing to threaten another person’s life with it, something that no member of society that does not suffer from some sort of mental illness should be able to brag about.”
If someone tries to injure or kill me, my loved ones, or innocent bystanders I both can and will do precisely what a cop would do: Use the necessary force to prevent harm to the innocent.
Nice to see that you consider the oath every cop takes to serve and protect as an indicator of mental illness. I think I’ll pass on your diagnosis, Dr. Fuck’tard.
“And your own wording suggests that it wasn’t even in self defense; you claim to have stopped a felony, not defended yourself which is a whole ‘nother can of worms in an of itself.”
You can reel in that cast, Troll’tard, didn’t catch anything.
The difference between you and I is that I don’t bother to lie.. and you’ve been caught enough times that, to be honest, if you didn’t make trashing you so easy I’d not even bother.
“Blah blah seek help”
Beginning Troll 101… Really, do you expect to provoke a response with that pathetic shit?
“Japan and the US are both…”
Ever watch some Japanese TV? Manga? Talk to someone who’s actually lived there a while? Not only are there vast cultural differences, but even if there were no differences at all, there isn’t a “pro-gun” sample to compare against the “anti-gun”.
“So while we are not the same, Griz, the two countries are INCREDIBLY similar and those similarities cannot be denied.”
Really? I deny it. Our governmental structure is similar because Douglas MacArthur dictated it be so. That doesn’t mean that they’re just Americans with epicanthic folds and no guns.
“My point is valid and still stands.”
Your points are pointless trolls.
I can cite dozens of states beginning with Florida in the mid-80’s as a before-and-after… and your pathetic rebuttal is to refer to statistics that are known to be bogus and statistics for a country that hasn’t allowed citizens to carry guns for generations and that anyone besides a desperate and amoral troll grasping at straws would clearly acknowledge has a significantly different culture.
You. Fail.
I think comparing one country to another is pretty freaking ignorant. Every country has it’s own cultural history, it’s psychological baggage, it’s own sense of honor, ethics, morality… comparing one western country to another might be closer to equality, but still, you’d be hard pressed to say that the culture of Italy is the same as the culture of Canada.
In America, even comparing one state to another isn’t completely equivalent. We are all our own culture in meaningful ways. While ’southern’ states might be more congruous for purposes of comparison, the culture of Georgia is a far cry from the culture of Oregon, whose culture is a far cry from that of New York.
But that being the case, we are all Americans, and have a shared history for the most part. So the best comparison one can make for whether gun control laws are a help or a hinderance is to be seen on a state-by-state level.
I’m not digging that information up, I’m going to bed. But I just wanted to chime in before I do.
“In any case, all you were able to show was that a bad comic can be made without copy/paste, not that good comics can’t be made with copy/paste.”
No, see that’s just you subjective opinion man. As long as one person in the world thinks a comic is good, it must be so. That’s just how it works. Sorry, hate to break your heart.
Funny comic Trucker Tom. The Green guy reminded me of Griz.
Griz: It is quite apparent that you don’t actually try to comprehend what is being presented to you. Your “responses” give off the vibe of you simply copying a passage and deciding how you can ridicule the author. While I can’t doubt that some of your links are researched. The overall post feels disjointed. Like a collage of disparate information as opposed to a coherent arguement (much like what is found on Hannity and friend or Glenn Beck – Let me qualify this. I don’t watch much of Hannity and friend or Glenn Beck, but what I have seen is quite disturbing and off putting).
“Crimes of Passions” are crimes that have been instigated by extreme emotional responses (jealousy, fear, desperation, panic etc). There is no requirement for prior psychosis or mental trauma. These are “crimes” committed on the spur of the moment due to emotions normal people feel under duress. They are fairly unpredictable because they involve people reacting in ways that are not in character.
A mother assaulting someone she mistakenly feels is endangering her children. A person lashing out at their cheating spouse and the spouse’s lover when coming upon them. A father steeling to feed his children. A son shooting his father because he felt he was being abused by his father. These are possible examples of “Crimes of Passion”.
Rationality is not present when these crimes are committed.
Access to a gun at these times of duress, I would argue is not a good thing.
So far nothing new has been added to the Gun Control debate – by anybody, (myself included.) Everything has been a rewording of past arguments.
Kuni,
“It is quite apparent that you don’t actually try to comprehend what is being presented to you.”
It is painfully obvious you CAN’T comprehend what is being presented to you.
“The overall post feels disjointed.”
Really? Because I’m going through YOUR AND SAW’s incoherent ramblings and replying point-by-point, maybe?
LEARN TO WRITE A COHERENT ARGUMENT BEFORE YOU COMPLAIN ABOUT SOMEONE ELSE’S SUPPOSED INCOHERENCE!
““Crimes of Passions” are crimes”…
I know what the fuck they are. I also know that there’s no “crime of passion” checkbox on the forms that cops fill out, hence no useful statistics, hence my FUCKING POINT.
LEARN TO READ BEFORE YOU START BITCHING ABOUT OTHER PEOPLE’S COMPREHENSION!
“Everything has been a rewording of past arguments.”
Since your mental illness causes anything you hear that would upset your precious Lib’tard ethos to turn in to the “waah waah wahh” of Charile Brown’s parents, I can see why you’d think that.
I can also see that your rebuttal to the points I’ve made showing how gun control is both impossible to implement and counter-productive to attempt comes down to your FEAR that people will snap and mis-use firearms.
There are over 250 million guns in the U.S. Only a tiny percentage of those guns are used in crimes, and an even tinier percentage of those crimes are “crimes of passion”… and an even tinier percentage of those would have been prevented if only the gun wasn’t around… Because people crazed with rage or suicidally depressed won’t grab a baseball bat or take 2 bottles of Tylenol, right? They’ll just screw their finger into their cheek and say, “Oh, how lucky for me I didn’t have an evil gun here… Now I shall turn my life around and love myself and my fellow man, all because Kuni knew what was good for me!”
“Access to a gun at these times of duress, I would argue is not a good thing.”
Yeah, NO SHIT SHERLOCK! And, as usual, you leave out the minor details of how one prevents access at those times, when the nutjobs will obtain firearms even when it’s illegal and without violating the rights of the 99.999% of gun owners that aren’t nutjobs
Oh, and quit projecting your mental instability on those of us that aren’t fucked in the head, mmmkay?
Griz posts: “Oh, and quit projecting your mental instability on those of us that aren’t fucked in the head, mmmkay?”
You mean “Oh, and quit projecting your mental instability on those that aren’t fucked in the head, mmmkay?”
Frankly, you seem as mentally stable to me as I apparently seem to you – primarily because you and I disagree. Makes Trucker Tom’s comments all the more funny.
Kuni,
That’s all you got? Another “I know you are but what am I” in the form of quibbling over a two letter word?
I know that quibbling over 2 letter words is something of a tradition amongst Lib’tards, but really? That’s all you got?
Trucker, reduced to ad absurdum I see. I’ll just assume you did rip off the comic then.
Now kuni, take the Virginia Tech shootings. A crime of passion perhaps, alternately a insane person commiting a horribl plan. In either case, the single person who has decided to use a gun to kill those people could have been stopped if any one of them had a gun. Sadly, nobody else did.
The idea of having gun access more open to regular people is that most people are sane, rational people. Those sane rational people can, when neccecary, use the gun, or the threat of the gun, to stop the person whose “passions” have gone out of control.
In terms of suicide, the average person has access to a wide array of options for suicide. Guns are only one of many quick and relativley painless ways to do the job.
Take Washington DC and Chicago. Strict gun laws, but a hell of a lot of crimes, including murder. Of course the guns come from outside the cities. Say a national ban was put in place. In a place like Japan or England, the borders are easy to control. There there is a larger amount of urban area. With the US so large and with so much rural land, it would be very easy to set up illegal gun manufacturing shops.
Look at the amount of weed produced in-country. That requires a whole field. Making rudimentary guns and ammo can be done easily at any tiny machine shop, and gunpowder is fairly easy to make. It would be harder to detect than meth labs or illegal stils, and look how rampant those are.
–> my comic
–> your head
Also, lol, I assume you mean reductio ad incommodum? Ad absurdum isn’t a fallacy retard. Also, don’t hat just becasue you can’t draw a comic. U mad.
That’s right, don’t hat. You better not have no fuckin hat on bitch.
I wear many hats:

I didn’t take my time with the drawing and the allegory is a little ham-handed, but there you go. Consider it happajap fan art.
Ad absurdum is a common name for ad incommodum. I didn’t say it was a fallacy, but it is an argument that is often used in informal debates when they are inappropriate. I doubt calling your opponent a retard would fly in a formal logic setting either.
You still haven’t shown that *you’ve* drawn a comic.
So you still never told us, who is the yellow fellah supposed to be? You’re clearly the green one.
I mean, is it supposed to be happa…me…griz….all of us…happa at least put a trucker hat on you to tell us who it is.
My fans are talented.
I don’t know why it was shrunk into the frame.
http://tinyurl.com/kuqes5
This will be full size.
Griz: “That’s all you got? Another “I know you are but what am I” in the form of quibbling over a two letter word?”
Actually I wasn’t “quibbling over a two letter word”, I was quibbling over a one person. I was basicly excluding you from that sentiment. Thus implying that you are “fucked in the head, mmmkay?”
I was giving the benefit of the doubt in the comprehension department. But you proved my point for me.
That’s not all I got, but it seems that that is all that I need. LOL
BTW Griz: Just to be clear: The number 3 follows the number 2. LOL
Tokker: I get your point and thus I posted that I didn’t think that anything new was added to the gun control debate by anyone – including myself.
With regards to “the Virginia Tech shootings’ (and similarly to the Montreal Ecole Polytechnique shootings), the act was violent, brutal, emotionally fuelled, but from my understanding, would not be considered a crime of Passion because of the planning involved prior to the act. Out of the Motives of Crimes categories (Passion, Profit (I previously posted this as Intent by mistake) and Opportunity), I would put the Virginia Tech shootings down as a crime of Profit. Where the profit that the shooters were trying to attain were Attention, Respect (Self Validation), and Vengence (for percieved offenses against the shooter).
Whether or not, another Gun would have curtailed the violence is a matter of speculation. Assuming that there was another person with a gun trying to stop the shooters. The best case scenario would be that the shooters are killed or injured to the extent that the rampage ends. The worst case scenario is that a crossfire situation arises where even more people are killed or injured. The shooters may be further enraged by someone rebuking their assertions of dominance and become more reckless and violent.
Regardless, it was a tragedy.
In my mind, the “gun control” debate boils downs to the attitude towards the guns themselves. If everybody was respectful of the power of the gun and the feelings of confidence and dominance it gives the wielder, if everyone treats the guns as the tools they are, then there would be no need to control guns. If guns were treated with the respect and care that knives are, then gun control would not be an issue.
Unfortunately, there are many who fear the gun (for whatever reason) and those who would gladly abuse the gun. Both these groups contribute to the need for gun control.
Griz called me a hoplophobe. I would submit that my “fear” of the gun is a healthy and respectful one and not irrational. I have been blessed to never have had a gun pulled on me. But I have relatives who have and those who have lived through wars (first hand). Seeing how quickly their lives and perspectives were changed in the presence of a gun, I understand how deadly guns can be. I, like most people that I know, fear for my safety and the safety of my family. And while a gun in my hands could offer a measure of protection, the dangers it presents (including the potential escalation of tense situations), outweights the benefits of owning a gun.
First, thanks happa!
Treat knives with respect? I know very few people who treat their knives with respect, much less the care they should have for proper sharpness and use.
Part of the reason why people treat guns as this big scary thing that will give you some sort of occult power is because that’s what heppens to forbidden objects. If nobody can have a gun, then the guy who has one is the big shot hero. If everyone can have one, he;s jsut another guy with a gun.

Ooh, thanks, Trucker, I think I know what your next strip will be.

Moron.
Trucker,
I’ll boot up a WinXP virtual machine and check that link out. There’s no way I’d click a link you provide on a real PC.
Yup, all out of arguments.
That site is a well known troll prank:
http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=last+measure
Don’t click on his link or you’ll be sorry…
Happa, I’d reccomend deleting the link.
You are really sad, Trucker Tom. Are you ten years old? Didn’t your mamma hug you? Did she hug you in the bad way?
What’s really ironic is that for this prank all you did is copy…and paste. It’s not even original.
Truly the funny part is that Trucker is just proving two things about herself, that she is hateful and intolerant of anyone who doesn’t share her views.
Which, hypocritically enough, is always what the left tries to brand the right as being.
I just want to say I am dismayed at the views espoused by supposed conservatives on this board.
You really are giving the rest of us a bad name, and doing nothing but providing stereotypical bad press for our politicians with horrid hard-right arguements.
Cry me a river.
Give us better arguments.
I have my views and will argue them with the best arguments I have.
Five gets you ten that Nilzy is just another fucking sock-puppet of “Tom”… Boring troll is boring.

So who’d we break tokker? Trucker Tom, Griz ? Me? xp LOL
Nilzy: I’ll agree with your sentiment, but are you sure this is the shitstorm you want to walk into?
Kuni,
Don’t worry about “Nilzy”, sock-puppets are generally machine-washable.
